Applications

1. What shelving system should I use in my;

a) Kitchen?
Our recommendation will depend on the area of the kitchen you need the storage for, and what you want to store.
For Dry Store Shelving, ECLIPSE Chrome Wire offers a cost effective solution, with excellent strength-to-weight ratio and an open wire design for air flow.

For Chiller shelving, we have 4 choices – Perma Plus Antibacterial shelving, EKO FIT, Plastic Plus Heavy Duty Shelving or Freezerack Freezer & Coldroom Shelving.

For Pot Racks, you will need a corrosion resistant heavy duty shelving for strength and durability, preferably with a strong hygiene rating - Plastic Plus is perfect for the job, incorporating the strength of steel shelving with an anti-corrosion coating, and removable dishwasher friendly, antibacterial plastic shelf panels.  Castors can be added to Plastic Plus units so that racks can be easily moved around the kitchen.

b) Hospital or medical storage?
In any medical environment, the first consideration is hygiene.  Each of our shelving systems offers excellent hygiene considerations;

- ECLIPSE Chrome Wire shelving is easy to wipe clean, and open wire design for air flow - perfectly suited to dry stores or linen storage.  Can also be fitted with castors for mobile units.
- ECLIPSE Perma Plus offers the same benefits as Chrome Wire shelving, with the added advantage of an anti-corrosion, anti-bacterial coating for additional hygiene.  Can also be fitted with castors for mobile units.
- PLASTIC PLUS Heavy Duty Shelving includes removable solid or vented shelf panels, which can be cleaned in the dishwasher and carry an antibacterial coating.  Can also be fitted with castors for mobile units.
- EKO FIT High Density shelving also includes removable, dishwashable shelf slats, and comes with NSF, NF, Tuv Nord GS and HACCP accreditations.

2.  What materials and finishes are best for damp, corrosive areas like freezers, coldrooms and pot racks?
Freezer racking, coldroom shelving and pot racks need to be constructed from or finished in materials that have a high resistance to corrosion; in the case of chillers and freezers, finishes must maintain this integrity at a wide temperature range.

- PERMA PLUS uses an anti-corrosion sealant with a 10 year guarantee, and an open-wire structure for air flow.  It is temperature resistant between -29oC to 88oC, making it suitable for use in coldrooms and freezers.
- FREEZERACK is constructed from non-corrosive anodised alloy and polypropylene plastic, temperature resistant between -20oC to 60oC, making it an economic alternative to stainless steel shelving for freezers and coldrooms.
- PLASTIC PLUS is a heavy duty shelving system, made from electroplated steel and polypropylene plastic panel shelves, and very strong, making it perfect for pot racking, freezer racking, coldroom shelving and anywhere with tough conditions.  Temperature resistant between -29oC to 88oC.
- EKO FIT high density shelving, constructed from anodised aluminium and polyethylene plastic, is ideal for use as coldroom racking, freezer racking or pot storage.  The system is temperature resistant between -30oC to 90oC.

We do not recommend ECLIPSE Chrome Wire for use in damp or corrosive conditions.

3.  What shelving is best for hygiene sensitive areas?
All of our shelving ranges are designed to be easy to clean and hygienic.  For areas requiring particularly high levels of hygiene, PERMA PLUS and PLASTIC PLUS both have antibacterial additives, while PLASTIC PLUS, FREEZERACK and EKO FIT all have removable shelf panels that can be cleaned in the dishwasher.
