Shelfspan Set To Help Local Business & Charities
Being part of the Shelfspan team
As a family-run business, since the companies inception, Shelfspan are close with our community. Of course, we have staff that sell shelving, racking and storage solutions across the whole of the uk, but lots of us are based around Chelmsford, Essex. As the demand for commercial shelving grows, so does our business and our number of employees. Today, we have over 14 full and part-time members of staff who do everything from sales and installations of big projects such as Ipswich Hospital Theatre Eko Fit Storage Solution right through to warehouse and administration staff.
The importance of helping the local community where possible, Shelfspan like to support local people and local businesses. Like any family business, our employment helps support local people. In turn, those people spend money with local businesses and it all trickles down. In addition to this, we try where possible to use small, local business for logistics, marketing and many other services required. Our community is the lifeblood of our business, and we value that greatly. Without our hard-working staff, suppliers, and local businesses, we wouldn’t have been able to build our brand.
Affects of Covid-19 on Shelfspan
We’re in a fortunate position that during COVID-19 pandemic, we were required by NHS and medical outlets to supply shelving and racking to numerous sites. Shelfspan fitted medical shelving units such as Eko Fit and Eclipse Chrome wire into lots of healthcare facilities and aided the NHS Supply Chain.
At one point we were required to supply two lorry’s of emergency procedure carts and over a 1000 vaccine transport carts across the NHS Medical Sector.
Of course, we slowed down supplying storage solutions for hospitality and catering, but our medical shelving and medical carts were in high demand. So, our business remained stable during COVID-19. However, many sectors greatly struggled and through no fault of their own found themselves in financial difficulty. As a business, Shelfspan are actively looking for ways to help our partners in the hospitality and those in our local community.
Doing more of local people
While COVID had a low impact on our business, many people and businesses have found themselves in hardship. For that reason, we looked to seek out ways to help people in the local community.

Our director, David Morris feels strongly about championing local charities, supporting a host of them for fundraisers and projects over many years. One of our most recent contributions was donating to the local food initiative
David Says:
“I feel it’s important to be mindful of your community and seek to help when you can. If we start with the areas closest to us and affect a positive change this can role out much further beyond our own environment.”
